Mordançage is an alternative photographic process that alters silver gelatine prints to give them a degraded effect. The mordançage solution works in two ways: it chemically bleaches the print so that it can be redeveloped, and it lifts the black areas of the emulsion away from the paper giving the appearance of veils.

The photos you see on the right started off as a photogram where only flowers and leaves where used. After the mordançage process it was redeveloped one or more times to get the colour and tones. Each print is unique and one of a kind.
